GEELONG West has not ruled out bringing Brendan Fevola back into the fold in the future after what the club described as a successful one-off appearance.

More than 1200 people braved wet and cold conditions to see Fevola pull on a Cheetah’s guernsey on Saturday and West president Simon Cavallo said the club would consider luring another marquee man.

“I won’t say no to anything,” Cavallo said.

“I’d like to leave our options open. He’s probably the biggest drawcard, I don’t think there’s any bigger than Fev.”

Rain put a dampener on the Cheetahs’ plans to lure thousands to West Oval for the EJ Whitten Foundation fundraiser.

“It could’ve been spectacular, but it was 11C and the showers came at one o’clock when everyone would’ve been decided whether or not to go,” Cavallo said.

“So it was a bit disappointing but we’ll definitely try something similar in the future.”

Fevola was spotted at Home House nightclub in the early hours of Saturday morning but Cavallo said the club was unfazed but his late night out.

“Fev’s been in the business a long time and he knows his capabilities and he has a bit of a rock star attitude,” Cavallo said.

“We would trust that he undertakes his actions knowing his capabilities. On the day he was completely fine, so we’ve got no problems with anything the night before as far as his performance was concerned.

“The delivery and conditions and the quality opponents that he played on made it difficult for him, so I’m not sure that if he went to bed at 8.30pm it would’ve made much of a difference.”

Fevola missed a club breakfast but Cavallo said the former AFL star was not required at the function.

“There’s a lot of rumours going around and I’m not sure what’s true but from 12 noon when he arrived, Fev was a complete professional,” Cavallo said.

“He was everything and more than we could’ve asked for. He signed close to 100 autographs and posed for an equal amount of photos with his fans. He was awesome.

“He was enthusiastic and positive and never said no to anyone. He gave his complete time and attention to everyone.”
