LEOPOLD  has locked in coach Steve Clark for 2015.

Clark said he and senior assistant David Farrell were keen to continue to build on the “exciting future” at the Lions’ den for another season.

“We’ve done the same thing each year, we go through stuff without any fanfare to make sure we are all in place for next year,” Clark said.

“Our main thing over the past few years is about retaining everyone, so it’s been good to keep that stability going.

“At the moment we have a great feel around the place and everyone is excited with the possibility of playing finals.”

From tonight the club will also start to tie down its stars for next season, president Brendan Thompson said.

“A lot have committed verbally but we need to get it on paper,” Thompson said.

“We hope to have them all signed up by finals. That way we know what to look for in terms of players and what we will need.

“But we just don’t bring in any player, we get in good people and we will stick to that.”

Thompson praised the impact Clark has had on the club since joining in 2012.

“He is just a quality coach and person and he has been nothing short of excellent for us,” he said.

“He is a great leader of young men and is held in high regard and you can see the guys play for Steve Clark and the other coaches.”

The Lions face one of their toughest tests of the year when they host Newtown & Chilwell on Saturday.

Leopold was humbled to the tune of 76 points early in the season and Clark admitted the result still burned the playing group.

“It’s the one game we have been the most disappointed in,” Clark said.

“We were flat, we didn’t turn up to play. We structure up a little bit different now and we have a few guys in different positions.

“We are excited by the opportunity this week. They want to have a good crack at it.

“It’s a real pride thing. Against the other teams we have been competitive and matched it with them and Newtown is the only one we haven’t been able to do that.”

The only injury concern for Clark is young Falcon Jack Hudson, who will miss with an ankle injury.
