Geelong Advertiser |LORNE has pulled off a recruiting coup, luring former Collingwood and West Coast goalsneak Brad Dick.
Dick, who kicked 47 goals for Murray Valley club Rumbalara last season, has officially put pen to paper with the Dolphins.
Announcing the star signing yesterday, new Lorne coach Jason Langdon said the 26-year-old had followed former Magpie teammate Jaxson Barham to the coastal club.
“He’s best mates with Jaxson,” Langdon revealed.
“We’re extremely excited to get a player of his profile. It’s good for the league, too, to have Brad and Jaxson running around.
“It benefits us but hopefully it helps the clubs such as Imps and South Colac in getting people through the gate.
“And not only will it help get more money for their club and it becomes a better standard of footy all round.”
Langdon said the club had been in talks with Dick, who hails from East Fremantle, for two months
“He lives in Shepparton and he works with the Aboriginal community up there,” he said.
“So we had to wait for the draws to come out to see if it was viable. He’ll be able to play eight games plus finals if we make it and next year we’ll have him full time.”
The Dolphins have also netted former Colac midfielder Callum Buchanan and have welcomed back a host of players who have spent the last season at GDFL club Winchelsea.
“They’re not all cleared but they’re coming back,” Langdon said of Steve Oliver, Boe Trickey, Chris Giuricin, Chris and Joel Tipping and Dan Wedding.
Star forward Ryan Evans also returns to set up a two-pronged attack with Luke Norton, who has left Anglesea, while St Joseph’s Darcy Nolan is coming back from a shoulder injury.
Langdon also announced the return of Che Turner and Jared Matheson.
“There’s about 55 on the list all up,” he said.
“We’ve got guys returning and we’ve recruiting the blokes who didn’t play.”
