northshoreGeelong Advertiser |RESPECT the past, build the future is the motto emblazoned on North Shore’s training shirt this pre-season. It says it all about the proud club as it tries to fight its way back into football relevance.

And while coach Jason Davenport knows talk is cheap during pre-season, he believes the wheel is turning at Windsor Park even if the Seagulls have only won four of their past 54 games.“A lot of clubs are pretty excited at this time of the season.

But our intent on the track and watching guys improving has been outstanding and I couldn’t ask for more as a coach,” Davenport said.

“Towards the end of last year we showed some good signs and we get another chance to build on that this year.

“I am really excited for this group to experience being in a position to win football games. I want them to see some rewards for the hard work they are putting in.

“We have a long-term plan, things are heading in the right direction, but we won’t fully know until we start playing games.”

There’s a buzz around the club that may have been missing in recent years.

Walking into the change rooms on a Wednesday night before training and you can sense the itch that the Seagulls have to prove themselves as worthy once again.

AFL player Nathan Djerrkura will call Windsor Park home this season and VFL player Nathan Peoples is back after various injury issues.
