cmfl1Weekly Times | SWAN Hill was pretty in pink for its Central Murray Football League matches against the Mallee Eagles on Saturday.

The Swans’ footballers and netballers went a few shades lighter than their usual maroon, donning pink jumpers with a white sash instead.

It was all part of the club’s Pink Jumper Cancer Awareness Day, which raised money for Swan Hill District Health to buy a vein imaging machine for chemotherapy patients.

Swan Hill club president Alistair Ward said the club jumped into action to support several members battling various forms of cancer.

He said the club had raised about $7000 from the sale of the pink guernseys alone, and combined with the day’s other fundraising efforts, including a high tea at half-time of the senior match, the tally was expected to exceed $10,000.

There was a further $1650 raised from a gate raffle that was for the Jaron Bennett Family Appeal, in memory of the Eagles’ teammate who passed away earlier this year.

The Eagles held on to win the senior match by four points.
