rochesterWeekly Times | APPARENTLY Tigers can fly.

Rochester is off to a flying start in the Goulburn Valley league. Its 70-point win on Saturday against Mansfield kept it undefeated after nine rounds, and put it two games clear on top of the ladder.

But a few players are taking it to another level.

Veteran photographer Bruce Povey has captured four high-flying grabs by Chris Sanders in the past three rounds, and his latest was arguably the best of the lot.

Sanders’ teammate Daniel Anderson also got in on the act on Saturday, taking a huge grab over Mansfield’s Ben Fagan, who we have been assured was not injured.

Rochester’s first-year coach James Flaherty, a former Peel Thunder and Bendigo Bombers player who did not play on Saturday for the first time this season, is thrilled.

“To be 9-0 as a first-year coach, I’m super happy. I didn’t expect the year to be panning out how it is but there are some really positive signs there,” he said.

The Tigers will meet the Eagles again in less than four weeks, this time away from home, after matches against Shepparton United and Mooroopna and a bye.
