northshoreWeekly Times | NORTH Shore fell painfully close to its second win of the Geelong Football League season by losing by a point to Geelong West-St Peter’s on Saturday.

The Seagulls were run over in the final quarter, dominating in scoring shots but not making the most of their opportunities to lose 15.4 (94) to 13.15 (93) in Round 9.

It was one of two matches in the round decided by a point after reigning premier Colac, which North Shore plays this week, defeated St Albans.

When North Shore, which did not win a game last year, played St Albans in Round 5, the Seagulls led at every change only to lose by eight points.

North Shore president Dale Purcell said the players were frustrated and disappointed after working so hard to get some wins on the board.

“The boys were disappointed because they probably played well enough and missed a lot of easy shots,” he said.

“They’ve got themselves to blame a little bit, but it’s very disappointing when you’re trying to turn the boat around but falling at the line.”

“They’ve had a couple of near misses but they are getting there.”
