millflWeekly Times | TWO-TIME reigning premier Bambill will be the first hurdle for Gol Gol when the Millewa Football League season kicks off tomorrow.

The Millewa league is the last country Victorian football competition to launch its season tomorrow, and this year will also have a women’s competition aligned to it.

League president Adam Astill said the Hawks shaped up as the “most likely improver and probably the biggest challenger to Bambill”, which has played in six of the past seven grand finals.

Sunraysia league legend Don Falvo, a four-time league best-and-fairest winner with Robinvale, was lured out of a brief retirement to play for Gol Gol this season.

Falvo, who turned 40 in December, called time on his career in the Sunraysia league last August after 437 senior matches for Robinvale then Robinvale-Euston.

Astill predicted Falvo’s first game in the Millewa league would be an added attraction for spectators, on top of the unveiling of Bambill’s premiership flag.
