Weekly Times | IS THIS street the best football-themed name in Victoria?
The Weekly Times believes there are five streets, courts, places and esplanades in Australia called Sherrin, and two are in the Australian rules heartland of Victoria.
This one is in Morwell in Gippsland.
Unfortunately for Morwell Football Club’s seniors, they did not see as much of the Sherrin as they might have liked on Saturday in the opening round of the Gippsland Football League.
Morwell, the reigning Gippsland league premier, was comprehensively thumped in the grand final rematch against Wonthaggi Power by 71 points.
One of the other opening round winners was Leongatha, coached by Beau Vernon.
Vernon was left wheelchair-bound after an on-field football accident in 2012.
He steered the Parrots to a thumping 123-point win against Traralgon.
