AFL Vic BarwonWeekly Times | THE deadline has lapsed for clubs to have their say on AFL Barwon’s proposed restructure of football competitions covering three senior leagues.

Clubs had until yesterday to submit written feedback to the commission on its proposals to achieve equalisation, covering the Geelong, Geelong and District and Bellarine leagues.

Short-term plans would cut the premier competition, the Geelong league, from 12 teams to 10, with the Geelong and District league to expand to 14 and Bellarine to remain at 10.

Club representatives gave their initial feedback at a forum with the governing bodies earlier this month.

AFL Barwon region general manager Lee Hartman said there was nothing unexpected heard and most feedback was around the timing of the changes, which would start next year.

Hartman said last week the commission would meet towards the end of this month to examine the written feedback.

Hartman would not comment on how seriously delays to the implementation of its proposals would be considered, saying it was a question for the commission after the feedback came in.
