picola unitedWeekly Times |PICOLA and District league president Shane Railton is not tipping Tungamah to win the South East division premiership this year, despite the Bears' dominant start to the season.

Tungamah has begun its campaign with four imposing triple-figure victories against Rennie (135 points), Katamatite (199), Katunga (139) and Katandra (118), as it pushes for a third successive premiership.

But Railton said the destination of this season's silverware was anything but a forgone conclusion.

"I don't think they'll (Tungamah) win the flag," he said.

Railton said junior development would restore a balance naturally, and the league would not explore strategies to achieve greater equality. Last month he said the league would look at all its options as AFL Victoria develops an overarching set of equalisation measures to combat skyrocketing player payments.

"(Tungamah are) well aware that their success is on the back of some pretty good juniors, so it's not as though it's going to last forever," he said.

"We've seen the exact same thing happen in the North West (division) with Strathmerton, Jerilderie and, to a certain extent, Berrigan, having success with junior sides.''

Dookie United and Waaia, also undefeated after four rounds, are the Bears' next two opponents.
