Weekly Times | YARRAM defeated Rosedale by two goals in Round 5 of the North Gippsland Football League yesterday.
A week after downing last season's runner-up Heyfield at its home ground, Yarram scored another away win against the Blues, 15.13 (103) to 13.13 (91).
The Demons were also celebrating Jarryd Swift's 200th senior match for the club.
Swift kicked two goals for the match, and was one of nine goal kickers for Yarram.
The Blues led by seven points at quarter-time, but the Demons kicked the first five goals of the second term and were 19 points in front at the main break.
Rosedale responded with five of the first six goals after half-time to once again hit the front and it led by one point at three quarter-time.
Rosedale was up by as much as 16 points in the last quarter before the Demons pounced.
Yarram coach Anthony Pavey rotated the midfield regularly in that last term to ensure the players had plenty of legs, but said their physical presence was also important throughout the game.
"I think it was our physical play — our running, our tackling, the relentless tackling and getting back into it — wore them down a little bit. They had a lot of run especially early on coming off the half-back line," he said.
"The score was going to take care of itself in the end if they kept fresh in the middle."
Louis Rodaughan and Griffin Underwood, who kicked three goals between them, also impressed Pavey, while Rosedale's Dale Fleming was tireless as he booted two majors.
