Weekly Times |TALLANGATTA has continued its barnstorming start to the Tallangatta and District Football League season after defeating Beechworth by 44 points on Saturday.
Tallangatta was the league's wooden spooner last year and has not played finals since it won the flag in 2009.
In the off-season it added the likes of former Ovens and Murray league players Ben Heinrich, Tim Brook, Tom Russell and Brent Hibberson, all of whom were in action on Saturday. The Hoppers and Beechworth were both undefeated going into Saturday's Round 5 match, but the Bushrangers were no match for the home side, losing 12.18 (90) to 7.4 (46).
They are second on the ladder despite the loss.
Last year's premier, Kiewa Sandy Creek, is also unbeaten this season, but did draw with Thurgoona in Round 2.
Kiewa Sandy Creek and Tallangatta do not meet until Round 13 in July.
