millflWeekly Times | ONE competition not taking part in interleague matches this weekend has taken the chance to go completely outside the box.

The Millewa Football League, in the state’s northwest, is holding the “Millewa Mega Day” on Saturday, where its three senior matches will be played one after another at Gol Gol.

Cardross and Nangiloc will kick off the day at 10am, followed by Meringur and Werrimull at 12.15pm. Then Gol Gol and Bambill close the day with a 2.30pm start.

League president Adam Astill said he had the idea when he found out last year that neighbouring league Sunraysia would likely be playing its interleague match out of town.

“We were going to be the only footy in town on that day, and instead of spreading it out everywhere the idea was to bring it to one area,” Astill said.

“Exposure for the league was probably the driving force behind it.”
