WorkSafe AFL Victoria Country is pleased to announce the appointment of Zac
Guilfoyle and Grant Saunders as Football Development Managers (FDMs) for the North
East Border Region.
Guilfoyle, an experienced league manager with North East Border Football and
Saunders, a former police officer and Compliance Inspector, presented as outstanding
candidates for the FDM positions during an extensive recruitment process.
Guilfoyle and Saunders will join Jeff Chandler (current AFL Victoria Region
Development Manager) and Darren Ogier (Murray Bushrangers Coach/Development Manager)
as part of the greater North East Border football development team.
The group will play an important role in the development and implementation of a
strategic plan for football in the region.
Guilfoyle, Saunders, Chandler and Ogier will also have a hands-on role in promoting
and growing the game in conjunction with the AFL North East Border Commission and
WorkSafe AFL Victoria Country.
North East Border Commission General Manager John O'Donohue said the appointments
represented a significant investment in football in the region.
"Having Grant, Zac, Jeff and Darren perform the role of FDMs will benefit all
associated leagues, clubs and players, along with the next generation of footballers
involved in local NAB AFL Auskick programs," he said.
The role of the FDM is an amalgamation of the current AFL Victoria Region
Development Managers and WorkSafe AFL Vic Country Area Managers, and will give all
stakeholders in the region access to new levels of support and game development
expertise.
"Grant and Zac are both quality people and were selected because of their great mix
of skills and experiences," O'Donohue said.
"They will complement the terrific work Darren Ogier and Jeff Chandler have done in
the region from a development perspective and we look forward to greater development
outcomes across the region with the increase in resources.
"With Zac's experience – having previously managed four separate football leagues in
the region – he brings to the role tremendous understanding of the local football
community and strong working relationships with many of our affiliated clubs."
"Grant also brings vital skills to the role after developing relationships with
local clubs through his work with Responsible Alcohol Victoria in the area of
compliance."
"Not forgetting current Region Development Manager Jeff Chandler and Murray
Bushrangers Coach/Development Manager Darren Ogier, whose experience will be
invaluable in the new structure."
