All time listsCountry Footy Stats | With Geelong FC and former Finley FNC player Tom Hawkins equalling the Geelong FC games record this weekend with 355, we thought we'd have a quick look at where that sits in the list all time for former Vicotrian country footballers.

When we looked into the details a little bit further, we also discovered that while Hawkins plays his 355th game this week, which not only equals former teammate and current club record holder, Joel Selwood who hails from Sandhurst FNC in the Bendigo FNL, but another former country footballer in Travis Boak also notches up game 355 in the same match.

Boak who is originally from Torquay FNC in the Bellarine FNL is currently the games record holder for Port Adelaide FC in the AFL and as with Hawkins and Selwood, was taken in the 2006 AFL Draft at pick 5, two spots ahead of Selwood.

In terms of current active AFL players, Hawkins and Boak both sit behind Collingwood FC's Scott Pendlebury who after this weekend's game will be in second place overall on the list with 392 games. The former Sale FNC Magpie has the chance to bring up game number 400 in round 18 against Geelong, and in doing so he will become the 6th player in VFL/AFL history to make the magical milestone and only the second former Victorian country footballer to do so.

Heading up the list is the legendary Hawk Michael Tuck who managed to rack up 426 games in a 20 year career spanning from 1971 to 1991 after being recruited from Berwick FNC in the now defunct South Gippsland FL. The South West Gippsland FL ran from 1954 to 1994. In 1995 the majority of its clubs moved into the Mornington Peninsula Nepean FNL. In 2020, Berwick FNC moved into the metro aligned Eastern FNL, ending it's long association with country football competitions, but also recognising it's changed geographical situation and location. Several of the original South West Gippsland FL teams still compete in country footy affiliated competitions such as the MPNFNL and West Gippsland FNC.

The rest of the Top 10 list is made up of some of the all time champions of VFL/AFL football and includes multiple Brownlow Medalists, Coleman Medalists and premiership players. The only question remaining is can Pendlebury go around again for the 2025 season and challenge the 426 of Tuck to take outright top spot for our list or even nudge the all time record holder North Melbourne FNC's Brent Harvey on 432?

Only time will tell.
