THE finals hopes of North Geelong took a hit on Saturday, with the Magpies squandering a chance to move up the A Grade ladder.
North Geelong and Thomson played out the first draw of the season as the Tigers came back from a three-goal three-quarter time deficit to share the points at Godfrey St.
Sitting at 12 premiership points outside the top five, the Magpies needed to defeat ninth-placed Thomson to remain in contention.
