Thomson got redemption for its one-goal loss to Corio in round one with a convincing win in wet conditions.
THOMSON 40 d CORIO 26
Under the ring Thomson's Melody Philpott capitalised at every opportunity, and Ash Lincoln's defensive pressure created countless turnovers for Thomson to help secure the win.
Thomson will now look forward to the challenge of Werribee Centrals next week.
Marlese Primmer tried hard in mid court for Corio.
BELL POST HILL 45 d WINCHELSEA 25
Bell Post Hill won the Mawson-Grant Cup comfortably. The Panthers opened up a slight lead at quarter time with Jess Kelly and Mel Holmes dominating. In an even second quarter, the heavens opened up and the wet conditions made it difficult for both teams. Alyssa Boardman created turnovers midcourt and Casey
Carroll passed accurately to Kim Martin and Jess Crowe under the ring as Bell Post Hill came away with the four points.
Winchelsea's Janelle Lucas and Bron Walker worked well through the centre court.
WERRIBEE CENTRALS 62 d NORTH GEELONG 21
Centrals goalers Mickayla Ward and Eleanor Tubbs worked in a great combination in their big win over the Magpies. Centrals defence combinations all worked well, with Noni McClure leading the way, taking numerous intercepts.
Lisa Dragicevic tried to provide drive in the centre court for North, but Werribee was just too strong all over the court. Kerryn Gonsalves had one of her best games in goals and then moved to defence.
BANNOCKBURN 49 d BELMONT LIONS 20
Bannockburn struggled in the wet in the first quarter, dropping passes and forcing the ball under Belmont's pressure. The first quarter break couldn't come quick enough, allowing changes to be made and giving an opportunity to regroup.
The changes made an immediate impact as the Tigers ran away with the contest.
Libby Brecevic in WA and Errin Schaeffeur in GA combined well, with Brecevic providing drive to the circle and passing perfectly to Schaeffeur into the ring. Bannockburn's defence stepped it up after half time, allowing Belmont to only score six goals in second half.
Best players for Bannockburn were Amy Wormald, Libby Brecevic and Amanda Edwards.
EAST GEELONG 63 d ANAKIE 5
East Geelong's tight defence of Keisha Guilimartin, Carly Headlam and Kate Schippers took many intercepts while keeping Anakie to only five goals as they continued their march towards finals. Samantha Rickinson as GD put pressure on every pass into East's goal circle, while Shayne Pitman also tried hard.
INVERLEIGH 74 d GEELONG WEST 18
Kath Mallon was best on court, showing her versatility both in goals and defence. The Hawks' centre court was relentless all game, led by Michelle Berrigan, making it hard for Geelong West to get into the game.
Chloe Reardon continues her consistent form in defence intercepting and rebounding well.
