Weekly Advertiser | A run of 10 goals straight in the final quarter bolstered Horsham Demons to the lead against Stawell on Saturday, eventually holding onto a 48-47 win.
Trailing by five goals at the last break, the Demons – led by goal defence Georgia Batson and Zarli Knight in wing attack and goal attack – took the lead with six minutes remaining.
The visitors dominated the last quarter to get out to a 47-41 lead, but the home side fought back late to go down by just one goal.
After an impressive start, the Warriors led early – out to an eight-goal lead by quarter-time – and then retained a 27-20 scoreline by the main break.
Goal keeper Erin Freeland showed her poise and determination, while Madi Taylor – swapping between wing attack and goal attack – was a key player for Stawell.
In fact both teams swung positional changes throughout the match, aiming to find the right combinations.
It was the second one-goal loss within three weeks for Stawell, who still hold on to fifth position.
In another round 12 Wimmera league A Grade netball game decided by a one-goal margin, Dimboola had a strong second half to score a 33-32 win over Warrack Eagles.
