In a positive omen for the club, the Lions finished the 2026 season where they have in recent years - at the top of the ladder.

They capped off the season with just one loss and 17 victories, and a round 18 win over Sale by 46 goals.

The Magpies were no match for the Lions on their home court, although Sale momentarily stemmed Moe’s flow of goals in the second term.

Moe centre Charlize Bird was best for the winners, followed by defender Jordan Pyle and shooter Georgia Moody, who netted 21 goals.

Sale’s Kate Van der Voort led her team, while Ashleigh Keefe and Jessica Gerrand held down the defence.

Round 18 brought the Magpies’ season to an end, seeing them finish ninth overall with three wins for the season.

With the regular season out of the way, Moe has earned the right to sit out the first round of finals while the remainder of the top five fight for a place beside them.

The Lions’ potential semi-final opponents are Drouin or Bairnsdale.

The clubs finished the season second and third respectively - the Hawks with a near-perfect 16-1 record and a draw, while the Redlegs held down the top three with 13 wins, four losses and a draw.

Both sides had winning ends to the season on their home courts.

The Hawks defeated fourthplaced Leongatha by 16 goals, while Bairnsdale defeated Maffra 34-22.
