MEENIYAN-Dumbalk United will add 486 games of AFL experience to its senior squad when it takes on Korumburra-Bena in June.
The Demons, in the Alberton league, announced on Twitter on Thursday they had secured former Collingwood duo Chris Tarrant and Alan Didak for a one-off appearance.
Tarrant played 268 games for the Magpies and Fremantle from 1998-2012, while Didak chalked up 218 games, including Collingwood’s 2010 premiership. The Demons are one of two undefeated clubs, along with Phillip Island, in the Alberton league after three rounds this season.
UPPER MURRAY KICKS OFF
THE Upper Murray Football League will be the last country competition to kick off its season this weekend.
The six-team league, based around Corryong in the North East, opted to start its 15-round season after the Easter long weekend. Back-to-back reigning premier Tumbarumba will meet Corryong on Saturday, but won’t unfurl its flag until Round 3 when it hosts Bullioh in the grand final rematch.
Perennial cellar-dweller Border-Walwa will take on Bullioh this weekend in a bid to score its first win since Round 1 in 2012, when it beat Federal by one point.
