Herald Sun | A COUNTRY footy umpire has died while umpiring a game in the state’s north on Saturday afternoon.
Greg Sidebottom, in his 50s, was umpiring a game between the seniors of the Ardmona and Undera football clubs at the Ardmona Recreational Reserve when he collapsed on the field late in the game.
Mr Sidebottom suffered a cardiac arrest and received CPR from patrons at the ground until paramedics arrived around 4.30pm.
Emergency services continued to administer CPR but Mr Sidebottom died at the scene.
The game was then called off.
