Robertson’s Swans beat his new side Shepparton by 43 points that night and he helped himself to seven majors alongside ex-Melbourne AFL teammates Adem Yze and Nathan Brown. But the match is best remembered for a player count, a confrontation between then Swans coach Perry Meka and league officials, and an eventual tribunal case.

Football league administrators have expressed their disappointment at being kept in the dark about a major decision regarding the newly established Goulburn Murray Regional Football Commission. News of Martin Gleeson’s appointment as general manager of the commission was published in Wednesday’s edition of The Weekly Times, with an email not sent to associated leagues until the following day.

The 2013 Murray Football League season kicks off this week and a number of close rivals clash. In front of big Easter crowds, there should be some very entertaining games. Clubs have been very busy on the recruiting front, while there have also been some major departures. Finley, Echuca United and Mulwala appear to again be major contenders this season.
